Four new works-in-progress make up the final additions to European Short Pitch's 19th edition

As the Coproduction Forum draws closer, European Short Pitch, with the support of Creative Europe MEDIA, is proud to unveil four exceptional works in progress that round out the ESP 2026 programme.

Beyond nurturing projects in early development, European Short Pitch also hosts a dedicated post-production segment, giving selected filmmakers a platform to share rough cut extracts, forge connections with co-producers, festivals, distribution and sales partners, and raise their profile across the European short film scene.

The ESP 2026 works in progress selection features filmmakers from across Europe:

  • And how are you? by Maï Calon / Belgium, produced by Animal Tank / Brecht Van Elslande

  • Flatlands by Darjan Hardi / Czech Republic, Serbia, produced by 13ka / Karolina Davidova

  • Post-Suicide by Alexander Saul / Denmark, Germany, produced by Adomeit Film Aps / Nadia Barbara Abrahamsen

  • Wild Boar by Sara Grgurić / Croatia, produced by Pipser / Lucija Perić - Croatia

Spanning an animation, a documentary, a hybrid work and a fiction film, this year's selection explores belonging, memory, mental health and indecision, reaffirming the programme's commitment to singular, boundary-pushing voices from across Europe.

Alongside the 12 projects in development already announced, the four works in progress will complete the line-up for the ESP Coproduction Forum 2026. Teams will gather on site at Leiden Shorts on 1 and 2 June 2026, with online sessions following on 4 and 5 June 2026, presenting their projects to a curated group of producers, distributors, sales agents and festival representatives before moving into individual meetings.
European Short Pitch is proud to collaborate with Leiden Shorts for the second time, continuing its mission to champion the most promising short film talents in Europe.
