Selection finalised for ESP Works in Progress 2023|24!

As we approach the much-anticipated Coproduction Forum, the Creative Europe MEDIA-supported European Short Pitch is thrilled to announce the addition of four exceptional works in progress to complete the line-up for ESP 2023|24

As well as supporting short film projects through the development stages, the European Short Pitch programme also dedicates a space for selected amounts of works in post-production, where the participating filmmakers are provided with the opportunity to find a co-producer, a distribution and sales partner, to complete the film and to promote it on a European level.

The works-in-progress selection for this year features projects from up-and-coming talent who, between them and their coproduction teams, span a background of 8 different countries:

Duty Free by Hilke Rönnfeldt / Germany / Denmark / Sweden, produced by Heimathafen Film / Virginia Martin

Masterpiece Mommy by Dorothy Sing Zhang / UK / CHINA, produced by Iconoclast Films / Lily Ashton

Spot by Sara Alavanić / Croatia, produced by Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb / Lucija Perić & Roza Medvešek

The Veil of Senses by Elisa Baccolo / Switzerland / Italy, produced by Sayonara Film / Olga Torrico  (Focus Switzerland)

The list includes 1 documentary, 3 live-action fictions and thanks to a  partnership with the Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur, ESP is very pleased to have the chance to focus on the emerging Swiss scene, with the inclusion of a Swiss production.

The selection spans a range of genres, including documentary, musical, and live-action fiction. This year, we are excited to highlight the diverse narratives and innovative storytelling techniques that these projects bring to the European film landscape.

The works in progress will join the 12 projects in development at the Coproduction Forum (26-27 February 2024, on-site and online & 29 February - 1 March, online), where the respective creative teams will present to ESP’s industry professionals, both on-site during the Festival Travelling, Rennes, France and online.
